Why POC Community School?

The POC Community School is an evidence based, local effort dedicated to helping our youth acheive success.        We understand that working closely with our local schools, families, students and other community entities is key in empowering the leaders of tomorrow.   We offer programs for students and families that are presented by our community partners and volunteers because we know that  everyone has a role to play in helping shape a bright future for our children. Volunteers and community agencies such as our local park district, hospital, local government departments, churches and local businesses bring a variety of programs that help spark the interest of students, engage families and neighbors, expand learning opportunities and positively impact at-risk youth in the NE Palatine, IL area.  Students are engaged in academic, after school help, introduced to the arts and music, learn every day skills such as cooking and begin to take charge of their future through health and wellness presentations. By working closely with local schools, we support and enhance the efforts of students and teachers in the classroom with real life experience in our after school programs. Retention is greatly increased and communication is improved when parents and caregivers come along side our students to assist and learn.
